Position title: Head of Privacy and Contract Management

As the Head of Privacy and Contract Management, you'll play a pivotal role in navigating the complex legal landscape of the advertising technology industry, especially as it undergoes significant shifts due to modern privacy regulations and technological advancements. This is not just a role of strategic oversight; it demands a proactive, hands-on approach to legal challenges, directly involving all aspects of legal affairs, privacy, and compliance within the organization.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of legal strategies, oversee compliance with privacy laws, and manage all aspects of corporate governance and contract management. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership across the company to ensure legal alignment with business goals.

Terms of employment: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Language of work: English (French proficiency is an asset)

Wage: CA $140,000 – CA $180,000 per year, subject to annual performance increases; eligible for company stock-option plan. (No separate cash bonus or commission.)

Benefits: 4 weeks paid vacation, 4 personal days, employer-paid collective insurance (medical, dental, vision, life & long-term disability with critical illness coverage).

Location of work: Primarily at Optable Headquarters in Montréal, Québec, with flexible telecommuting within Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Privacy and Compliance Leadership: Ensure compliance with privacy regulations across all operations, responding proactively to the evolving legal landscape of adtech. Oversee the company's privacy policies and practices, ensuring they meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with customers, partners, and vendors, ensuring legal and commercial risks are appropriately managed.
  • Corporate Governance: Oversee all aspects of corporate governance, ensuring the company adheres to the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct.
  • Legal Operations: Build and refine internal processes and operations to support the company's growth, including developing a plan for future legal team expansion.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with departments such as Sales, Product, and Engineering to provide legal support, ensuring integrated and compliant solutions for our customers.
  • External Legal Liaison: Engage in effective coordination with both international and domestic legal service providers, specializing in corporate law and privacy issues, to ensure seamless legal operations and compliance across our global and local business landscapes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Law; eligible to practise in Canada, the United States, or Europe.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience in corporate law, privacy and compliance (ideally within adtech).
  • Proven contract drafting and negotiation expertise.
  • Expert knowledge of global privacy and data protection laws (GDPR, CPRA, Law 25, etc).
  • Proven ability to lead legal strategies and manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • A criminal record check will be conducted
