Are you a detail-oriented leader with expertise in records management and GIS?

The Supervisor, Records & Mapping Services plays a vital role in implementing and reinforcing procedures to ensure the availability and integrity of distribution system asset records for engineering and operations functions. This position focuses on prioritizing, tracking, and managing all transactions within the GIS database from a standards, quality, and throughput perspective. Additionally, the Supervisor provides leadership and support to Records & Mapping Services staff by setting and monitoring departmental objectives, policies, budgets, and operational plans.

What you'll do

Records and GIS Management

  • Maintain GIS and secure electronic and paper records to support a comprehensive GIS record system for utility distribution systems and associated data management of assets, easements, and joint use records.
  • Manage workload to ensure accurate and timely updates to the GIS system.
  • Lead training initiatives for new users of the asset records system, GIS, and associated applications.
  • Ensure processes are documented and followed to ensure consistent execution of task
  • Review processes and procedures to find efficiencies and improve data quality

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Deliver high-quality drafting and records services to engineering and operations stakeholders for capital and maintenance programs.
  • Respond to requests from customers, contractors, consultants, and external agencies.

Property and Compliance Management:

  • Manage all land rights issues for distribution system infrastructure and handle all property divestiture matters, including environmental clean-up and approvals.
  • Develop, monitor, and measure techniques to ensure annual metrics completion, compliance, and administration of third-party agreements/licenses.

Project Management and Leadership:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise the daily activities of the operational unit
  • Provide coaching, development, performance management, technical guidance, and advice.
  • Lead and/or participate in departmental projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget, including contract negotiation and administration for customer-related projects.
  • Contribute to department goals and objectives.

Policy and Safety Compliance:

  • Research, recommend, and implement new or enhanced policies, procedures, and business system integration and application processes to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and health and safety policies, procedures, and standards.

Who you are

Education & Technical Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in computer science, electrical engineering, GIS studies, or recognized equivalent.
  • Understanding of regulatory and governmental requirements (OEB Rules and Regulations, PIPEDA, and OH&S).
  • Advanced knowledge of GIS, integrated software applications, digital/manual record storage and retrieval systems/practices, asset analysis/electrical distribution systems, technical record interpretation, CAD, and drafting techniques.
  • Expertise in electrical utility distribution networks.
  • Expertise in contract specification development, administration, negotiation, and interpretation, property request transactions, departmental equipment specifications/procurement, and programming.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or lead role, or successful completion of a recognized leadership or supervisory course.
  • Experience in a unionized utility environment is an asset.

  • Strong ability to lead change and engage, develop, and motivate teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutions.
  • Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to convey information accurately and concisely.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class G driver's license.
