We are seeking a Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications to inform strategy, planning and visibility across programs and community initiatives. This is a strategic hands-on role. The successful candidate will bring their communications leadership experience to develop innovative and impactful communications strategies, while also rolling up their sleeves to help execute. The Senior Manager will guide Marketing and Communications strategy and execution, steward consistent messaging across all channels, oversee delivery of key projects such as website modernization and major campaign launches, and lead strategic communications for flagship events including Edmonton Startup Week and DevCon. This successful candidate will contribute to a culture of entrepreneurship and community impact that continues to push our city forward.
Role Responsibilities
Brand & Strategic Leadership
Oversee the evolution and execution of Edmonton Unlimiteds marketing and communications strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the broader innovation ecosystem.Drive strategic storytelling that elevates Edmontons founders and positions the city of Edmonton as an innovation hub.Provide direction and support to the Marketing & Communications team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.Marketing Strategy & Campaign Leadership
Develop and lead integrated marketing and communications plans that drive engagement, visibility, and brand influence.Establish and manage performance metrics (engagement, reach, audience growth) to guide data-driven decisions and future strategies.Champion innovation in channel strategy, ensuring digital platforms, including the website, reflect brand priorities and strengthen founder engagement.Provide support in identifying and developing new partnership opportunities that expand Edmonton Unlimiteds visibility and reinforce community impact.Support the Vice President, Marketing and Communications in budget planning, resource allocation, and performance across marketing and communications initiatives.Ensure structured reporting on storytelling effectiveness, campaign impact, and ecosystem visibility with insights used to inform executive leadership and strategic decision-making.Introduce new tools, technologies, and processes that enhance execution, efficiency, and audience insights.Role Requirements
7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, and strategy planning, ideally within innovation, tech, or ecosystem-driven environments.Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning, brand positioning, and integrated campaign execution.Takes initiative and adapts quickly, balancing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.Exceptional communication and narrative development skills able to connect diverse audiences with compelling stories.Proven success leading teams and cross-functional collaboration, including agencies and ecosystem partners.Strong project and stakeholder management skills, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines with excellence.Analytical mindset, comfortable using performance data to optimize strategy and investments.Strong digital fluency leveraging platforms, tools, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and engagement.Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, or a related field required.Compensation
