Duration: 113 Business Days (Possible Extension)

Hours: 7.25 per day (Monday–Friday)

About the Role

Supply Ontario, in collaboration with Ontario Health, is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to develop the HALO (Health Application Lightweight Protocol) Integration Guide — a next-generation standard enabling seamless third-party application integration with EMR systems across Ontario.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to a high-impact healthcare IT initiative shaping interoperability and innovation in digital health.

Must-Have Skills

7+ years of experience creating technical documentation for software integrations, API specs, or system implementation guides

Strong ability to translate complex technical information into clear, structured documentation

Proficiency with diagramming tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Visio, )

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical teams

Nice-to-Have / Desired Skills

  • Deep technical understanding of RESTful APIs, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, and cloud-based architectures
  • Experience with FHIR, SMART on FHIR, and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Knowledge of AWS-based systems and EMR workflows
  • Familiarity with GitHub or Confluence documentation platforms
  • Understanding of PHIPA and healthcare privacy requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and product owners to capture technical details
  • Author, structure, and maintain the HALO Integration Guide
  • Create visual aids (sequence diagrams, architecture visuals)
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Health's documentation standards and AODA guidelines
  • Manage documentation version control and repository updates

Deliverables

  • Initial Draft Integration Guide: within 4 weeks of start date
  • Final Release-Ready Guide: incorporating feedback and standards compliance
  • Ongoing Revisions & Supporting Materials: updates, onboarding decks, FAQs, glossaries

Work Type: Hybrid (Up to 3 days onsite, subject to change)

Note: Ontario Health systems and equipment cannot be accessed or removed from outside Ontario.
