Position Overview

As a Senior Structured Cabling Technician, you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, including fibre optic cabling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a wide variety of cabling systems, a deep understanding of industry standards, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. You must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with a team to ensure the successful completion of projects on time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and maintain structured cabling systems, including fibre optic cabling and copper-based cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, etc.)
• Perform splicing, terminations, and testing of fibre optic cables
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with structured cabling systems
• Ensure installations meet project specifications and industry standards
• Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and technical documentation
• Conduct site surveys and assess cabling requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols
• Provide mentorship and training to junior technicians
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other team members

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structured cabling and fibre optic installations
• Strong knowledge of cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with fibre optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
• Proficient in the use of cabling tools and testing equipment
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (company vehicle not provided)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Additional Requirements:

• Must have reliable transportation to travel to job sites within the Greater Toronto Area
• Must be physically able to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying materials, working in tight spaces, and climbing ladders
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
• Ability to work long hours when required
• Excellent Communication & Organization Skills
