Event Service Crew II

The Edmonton EXPO Centre is seeking a Full-time Event Service Crew II to join the Event Operations Team. This position is responsible for setting up and dismantling the event spaces and taking on the labour tasks required to run successful events. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing general labour for the conversion of the venue for various events
• Preparation of rooms for event set up
• Setup and taking down of chairs, tables, other event seating, stages etc.
• Operating and maintaining equipment such as forklifts, lawn mowers and other winter and summer landscaping equipment pertaining to venue operations
• Inspecting and maintaining inventory pertaining to venue operations
• Inspecting and maintaining venue exterior/interior walkways, pathways and other areas
• Operating equipment in a safe and proper manner while maintaining a safe working environment
• Complying with all health, safety & fire regulations
• Assisting in fire alarm response
• Maintaining awareness of emergency policies and procedures
• Providing positive guidance and mentoring to Level 1 and fellow Level 2 crew members
• Lead by example in creating a positive work environment and morale
• Attend meetings and representing the overall team
• Inspecting and approving work completed by co-workers and/or contractors
• Providing orientation and training when required

The successful candidate will have:

• A valid Alberta Class 5 divers license (abstract must be provided upon request)
• Experience in labour-type work with a focus on hotel events and/or tradeshows
• Self-motivated to perform duties in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision, respecting deadlines as per our Standard Operating Procedures
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Competence in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook and venue management software
• Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
• The ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively
• Ability to use full range of manual dexterity (sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, walking, and lifting)
• Availability for shifts in the early morning, late evening, overnight, weekends and some holidays
