Role: As an on-call volunteer for special events, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful execution of various sporting events, tournaments, and activities held at the facility. This volunteer position demands flexibility, enthusiasm, and dedication to contribute to the promotion and development of sports in the community.
Reports to: Sports Services Manager and Volunteer Coordinator

- Event Support: Respond promptly to requests for on-call volunteers during scheduled sport events. Assist the event organizers and staff in setting up event areas, managing registrations, and providing support to participants and spectators.
- Customer Service: Create a welcoming and friendly environment for participants, spectators, and fellow volunteers. Offer assistance and information about the event, facilities, and services available at the sports centre.
- Venue Preparation: Help with the preparation and organization of the sports centre before and after events. This includes arranging equipment, setting up competition areas, and ensuring the facility is clean and safe for participants.
- Safety and Security: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times. Be vigilant in identifying potential hazards and report any safety concerns to the event organizers or sports centre staff immediately.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure effective teamwork and smooth event operations. Follow instructions from event coordinators and assist with any additional tasks as required.
- Passion for sports and a desire to contribute to the community.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Responsible, reliable, and punctual.
- Knowledge of basic sports rules and terminology (preferably in the sports relevant to the events).
- Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that may require lifting or moving equipment.
- Prior experience in event management, customer service, or sports-related activities is an asset but not mandatory.
