About the Role:

Under direction of the Director of Manufacturing, a Production Supervisor is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations within the departments and ensures that issues are handled appropriately utilizing strong, values-based leadership and direction to the hourly employees. As Production Supervisor, you will be the senior management representative on site during afternoon and night shifts needing to make critical decisions within your scope of responsibilities and knowing when to reach out for counsel and advice.

Reports to: Director of Manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production team on multiple lines.
  • Lead by example and train, develop, and inspire production team.
  • Be instrumental in developing a high-performance team where all team members work coherently to "win" together.
  • Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Coordinate production to ensure product is ready per customer requirements.
  • Develop plans for efficient use of material, machines, and labor.
  • Responsible to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for the line.
  • Manage first contact with operators on any quality or operational efficiency issues to ensure they are managed appropriately.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and directs set-up and adjustments of machines.
  • Track and manage operators working hours, attendance and performance issues.
  • Observe all safety rules and promote a safe working environment with team members. Escalate workplace hazards and incidents and participate in incident investigations and RCA.
  • Be proficient in machine set up, operation and troubleshooting. Acquire technical knowledge to oversee the production areas in the facility.
  • Responsible for daily input into production reporting systems.
  • Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
  • Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile

  • 3-5 years supervisory experience, preferably in a food production environment
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems
  • An ambitious self-starter with strong desire to grow professionally
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Suite of Applications), and instructional software
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills to interact with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills to encourage, mentor, train, and lead staff
  • Strong adherence to meeting productivity, quality and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work shift work as required.
