Smith Metal Works LTD, a metal fabrication company, is seeking an estimator.

Applicants MUST have:

  • 5+ years of experience in metal fields
  • Advanced AutoCAD and advanced experience in reading structural and architectural buildings and drawings.
  • Ability to work on site - Working remotely is NOT an option.

Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Doing site take-off measurements for quotes and productions
  • Overseas sites for scheduling and installations to meet Seguro specs, engineer requirements, and client deadlines.
  • Recognize and prepare change notices, deficiencies and do minor touch-ups when necessary.
  • Ability and experience to use hand tools, read drawings, and understand, read tape measures in metric and imperial fractions.
  • Maintain site log books, attend site meetings, engineer site inspections, Testing's.

Required skills:

  • Experience of 5+ years with railings, fences, gates, windows guards, balconies, and miscellaneous metal - MUST
  • Advanced in reading structural and architectural buildings and drawings - MUST
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with co-workers, installers, clients and engineers
  • Multi-tasking, time management, and ability to excel in a fast paced position in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Working at Heights and Swing stages is required. Work environment is office and construction sites.
  • Knowledge and experience in AUTOCAD would be an asset.
  • Mathematical and geometrical computations
  • Documentation, research, and drafting tasks of engineering data as requested by clients or office project managers
