  • Residential Support Workers provide feminist-based, compassionate and innovative supports, counseling and therapeutic/activity-based group programing for women and their children who are living in the shelter. Residential Support Workers give support to develop goals, a plan of action, and strategies for women and their children in the shelter. They encourage a caring, healthy, safe and positive work and residential setting for women in the shelter as they assist woman.  They perform case-management, assess and plan for her personal safety, and refer to additional counseling and legal supports with a harm reduction approach.  Staff promotes support groups and activities to help women through this difficult time in their lives, and provide productive outlets for them to promote personal growth and healing. As well, they prevent, manage and defuse any behavioural issues that arise within the shelter.

Job requirements

  • Bilingualism preferred (English and French)
  • Diploma or degree in Social Work or equivalent experience
  • Vulnerable sector check
  • Driving record check 
  • Own transportation, Valid driver's license
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate, Food Handler Training, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
  • Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, housekeeping activities
  • Administrative and office activities, research techniques, food preparation
  • Up-to-date Covid-19 Vaccinations

  • Les intervenantes en maison d'hébergement offrent du soutien, du counseling ainsi que des groupes thérapeutiques et des activités aux femmes et aux enfants qui vivent à la maison d'hébergement et cela avec une approche féministe, de la compassion et un esprit novateur. Les intervenantes aident les femmes et les enfants de la maison d'hébergement à se fixer des objectifs et à établir  un plan d'action et des stratégies. Elles favorisent un milieu de travail et de résidence bienveillant, sain, sécuritaire et positif pour les femmes de la maison d'hébergement qu'elles soutiennent. Elles font de la gestion de dossiers, évaluent et planifient leur sécurité personnelle, réfèrent les femmes qui ont besoin de counseling et de soutien juridique en tenant compte du principe de la réduction des méfaits. Les membres du personnel offrent des groupes de soutien et des activités pour aider les femmes dans cette période difficile de leur vie et elles leur proposent des moyens productifs favorisant la croissance personnelle et la guérison. De plus, elles font de la prévention, gèrent et désamorcent les problèmes de comportement qui pourraient survenir à la maison d'hébergement.

 Exigences de l'emploi

 Anglais et Français - Bilinguisme préféré

  • Diplôme en travail social ou expérience équivalente
  • Vérification de l'habilitation à travailler auprès de personnes vulnérables
  • Accès à ses propres moyens de transport, permis de conduire valide
  • Certificat de premiers soins et de RCP, formation à la manipulation des aliments, formation appliquée en techniques d'intervention face au suicide. Certificat d'intervention non-violente en situation d'urgence
  • Milieu où les activités se déroulent rapidement, travail sous pression, activités de gestion interne de la maison
  • Activités de bureau et d'administration, techniques de recherche, préparation des aliments
  • Vaccinations covid à jour
