Job Title: Senior Technical Business Analyst

Location: Remote - Canada

Duration: 4+ Months Contract (possible 12-month extension)

Job Description:

The Data Centre of Excellence (DCoE) seeks a Technical Business Analyst (Senior) to support the design and delivery of AI-enabled data and analytical products that empower data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops and requirements sessions with government departments and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Product Owners/Managers to define product roadmaps, technical feasibility, and dependencies.
• Develop and present business cases and ROI analyses for proposed solutions.
• Lead requirements gathering, documentation, and translation into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Create detailed technical specifications and visual models (DFDs, BPMN, data models).
• Maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM).
• Define and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategies.
• Perform gap analysis, process re-engineering, and data product documentation.
• Support sustainable data delivery frameworks and contribute to training and knowledge materials.
• Bridge communication between vendors, clients, and clients technical team.
• Prepare presentations, reports, and deliverables for executive stakeholders.

Deliverables

• Weekly and monthly status reports.
• Business analysis documentation, data models, RTMs, and UAT deliverables as required by the project.

Mandatory Qualifications

Experience

5+ years translating business requirements into detailed technical requirements in enterprise IT environments

4+ years creating flowcharts, process/data flow diagrams, user journey maps, etc.

5+ years client/stakeholder management and communication on complex data topics

4+ years implementing Information and Data Management frameworks

5+ years working with clients/stakeholders on business and technical solutions

Nice-to-Have Skills

4+ years with cloud data management projects (Azure, Snowflake, etc.)

5+ years in data analytics, visualization, or data science initiatives

5+ years in data management (ETL, data lineage, quality, governance)

4+ years understanding of APIs, JSON/XML, and cloud platforms

5+ years data transformation, wrangling, cleansing

5+ years data privacy/security (de-identification, audits, synthetic data)

3+ years Agile project delivery and Azure DevOps

3+ years BI/data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, Python/R for validation and profiling

Experience leading AI/ML or Data Governance initiatives

Work Location Notes:

The role is primarily remote, and work must be performed from within Canada for data and network security compliance.

Onsite attendance may occasionally be requested for strategic, architectural, or technical meetings with team members, senior leaders, and business clients.

Frequency: Up to 3–4 times per month, based on project needs.

Attendance at onsite meetings is optional and negotiable depending on the resource's location. Occasional on-site meetings at 7000 – 113 ST, Edmonton, AB, CAN T6H 5T6

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: From $94.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.25 per week
