Horticultural Therapist

Job Description
Overview: We are seeking new and enthusiastic Horticultural Therapists for our elderly participants in Mississauga, Ontario. As a Horticultural Therapist, you will work with older adults to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being through horticulture-based activities. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement horticultural therapy programs for older adults some diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia. - Conduct assessments to determine clients' needs and goals - Plan and facilitate therapeutic gardening activities, such as planting, cultivating, and harvesting plants. - Provide individual and group therapy sessions using horticulture as a therapeutic tool - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate horticultural therapy into treatment plans - Monitor clients' progress and adjust therapy techniques as needed - Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client sessions and progress Requirements: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Horticultural Therapy or related field - Experience working with adults, preferably in a healthcare setting -Registered with The Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association -Must have certification: Horticultural Therapist Technician (HTT) or Horticultural Therapist Registered (HTR) - Knowledge of medical terminology and case management principles - Strong data collection and analysis skills - Familiarity with special education practices and techniques - Understanding of Alzheimer's and Dementia needs and considerations - Experience in conducting research related to horticultural therapy is a plus If you are passionate about using horticulture as a therapeutic tool to improve the lives of others, we would love to hear from you.
