AutoCAD Technician with Interior Design Experience
We are seeking a full-time AutoCAD technician with experience working in an interior design firm to join our team in Halifax. Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in producing AutoCAD drawings within an interior design or architectural firm. Strong Skills in Construction drawing production and Millwork detailing are preferred. AutoCAD skills are necessary; REVIT skills are also an asset, along with Adobe, and SketchUp or rendering experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to translate design intent into construction drawing packages including floor plans, finishes plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, millwork, and details that comply with the local building code.
- Interpret building codes and bylaws to ensure design complies with building codes including Barrier Free codes.
- Produce top-quality design, tender and construction drawings and documentation; ensure code and regulatory compliance; and participate in quality control processes.
- Review drawing packages for accuracy, errors and omissions, and integrity.

Maintain high-quality documentation practices

- Responsible for multiple concurrent projects with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and prioritize project deliverables
- Assist with contract administration including shop drawing reviews and submittals
- Develop expertise in technical and design drawing, building codes and standards, construction practices and standards, detailing and materials, and sound environmental practices.
- consult with more senior designers and technologists when encountering technical challenges or issues with suppliers, contractors or site conditions.
· Complete site visits for initial measurement to prepare CAD base building plans, during construction to confirm conformance to drawings and upon completion to prepare construction deficiency reports.

Learn to solve technical, materials and construction problems elegantly and effectively.

Actively contribute to the design dialogue in the firm.
Required Skills
- Prepare CAD drawings to communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively
- Apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
- Have a general understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Have understanding and implementation skills in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Work well in a collaborative team environment, have a positive collaborative attitude, passionate about delivering an incredible experience for clients, ensuring each project is a successful partnership and work cooperatively with multidisciplinary project teams and consultants as needed.
- Highly motivated and energetic self-starter who is always driven to improve their skills.
- The ability to initiate tasks and perform duties with little supervision.
- The ability to communicate comfortably with the design team and consultants and
create sound relationships with colleagues, contractors and suppliers

Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing technical drawings for interior design projects.
- Proficiency with technical software: Advanced CAD, REVIT, and Photoshop skills (including advanced rendering skills using REVIT and Photoshop), enhanced hand drawing skills and computer software skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Solid demonstrable experience preparing complicated millwork drawing packages.
- Good understanding of local building code and accessibility standards.
- Good understanding and experience in the construction phase of projects.
