Role Description

We are seeking an Assurance Senior to join our Smiths Falls office (hybrid/remote flexibility available).

The Assurance Senior will be responsible for leading and executing assurance engagements, including audits and review engagements, preparing and analyzing financial statements, performing risk assessments, and testing accounts and balances. The role also includes supervising staff on engagements, contributing to client meetings, and identifying opportunities for process improvement and client support.

This position provides the opportunity to work closely with partners and clients across a range of industries and gain hands-on experience in assurance and advisory work within a collaborative small-firm environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and complete audit and review engagements in accordance with professional standards.
  • Prepare and review working papers, financial statements, and related reports using Caseware and Microsoft Office.
  • Identify accounting issues and propose practical solutions for clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to resolve audit and accounting issues.
  • Ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and to firm quality standards.
  • Assist with special projects or advisory work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in public accounting, with exposure to assurance engagements.
  • CPA designation completed or in progress.
  • Strong working knowledge of Caseware and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Solid understanding of ASPE and ASNPO accounting frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
