Oral Radiologist

Description

Primary Purpose: The Oral Radiologist is a dental specialist who interprets diagnostic imaging of the teeth, jaws, face, and related structures. They analyze radiographic examinations such as CBCT, panoramic radiographs, cephalometric images, intraoral radiographs, CT, MRI, and other advanced imaging modalities to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry and medicine. They will, at the University of Saskatchewan, provide instruction, support, and curriculum overview to students.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Dean or designate, this position works with clinic patients, dental students, staff and faculty to support the patient care function from an Oral Radiologist perspective. This position will be focused on both managing and ensuring quality of the existing curriculum, as well as building a new Graduate Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide general supervision, guidance and mentoring to students on the clinic floor, providing them with feedback and advice to ensure proper patient care and enhance the student experience
  • Develop strong relationships with staff, faculty and students, fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care
  • Provide instruction and support to DMD students in radiographic interpretation
  • Guide students on imaging techniques and clinical applications
  • Oversee quality and consistency of radiology teaching across the curriculum
  • Lead the design and development of a new graduate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
  • Prepare curriculum structure, learning outcomes, and accreditation requirements
  • Collaborate with faculty, clinics, and academic leadership to integrate radiology teaching and training
  • Contribute to academic service and program advancement as needed

Qualifications

Education: Doctorate of Dental Surgery or Doctorate of Dental Medicine from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Licenses: Must hold a valid Canadian license in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology

Skills and Experience: Strong foundation in the practice of clinical dentistry; Ability to provide independent state-of-the-art dental care to patients; Strong clinical skills to serve as a positive role model and supervisor for students; Ability to utilize and assimilate available clinical information to make decisions regarding patient care; Demonstrated initiative, integrity, collegiality and professionalism; Effective oral and written communication skills; Effective time management, problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills; Experience with dental software (e.g. axiUm, ClearDent, Dentrix) is an asset.

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $87, ,353.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
