Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 33 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 11 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis , the Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation of annual and by-period financial budget for all stores and business units in the company, capital expenditure control and bonus calculation. The position also needs to work with a number of stakeholders including Loblaw, store managers, various departments and internal/external auditors, while participating in financial performance review, preparing periodic reports to management and fulfilling audit requirements.
- Major Responsibilities: Prepare periodic financial report for internal and external purposes, analyzing abnormal business results, including different segments of sales, GP and expenses against budget target as well as on the year-to-year growth
- Prepare the periodic financial performance review deck and coordinate with business partners to obtain additional comments for management team's discussion
- Prepare the periodic highlights and analysis for parent company
- Prepare the weekly foreign exchange rates update
- Prepare the quarterly LCL continuity report. Update parent on new stores square footage and location
- Maintain the store forecast in EIS for store managers to ensure the records match with master budget file
- Maintain the financial report distribution list and review the EIS portal each period to ensure all the financial reports are properly uploaded to EIS portal
- Take part in the various required activities for annual closing on inventory for store and warehouse; coordinate and collaborate with auditors in carrying out inventory, supplies, random and special count
- Coordinating and tracking on company-wide capital expenditure spending. Alert management on each profit center and investment project are spending within the approved limit and on time. Keep the management posted whenever there is any idle capital resource
- Support complying government requirement (e.g. Statistic Canada) on data reporting as well as requirement from internal and external audit
- Support corporate formulating detailed annual budget and three years plan during budget cycle, including preparing the SC department budgets, depreciation schedule and rent schedules
- Support calculation on regional and national by store and by department quarterly bonus entitlement
- Assist in preparing business case on new store and other investment projects
Perform any other duties or projects as assigned by the superior(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Possess a college degree, major in Accounting or possess an equivalent Accounting Designation (Level 2-3 CPA) or possess a minimum 3 years of accounting experience
- Have a track record in delivering results, demonstrate strong ability to work on many tasks simultaneously, prioritize and complete requests in an efficient manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to solve problems independently
- Demonstrate integrity and teamwork
- Able to work under pressure with a focus on accuracy and meeting various deadlines
- A self-starter who always takes the initiative to learn and improve
- Possess Intermediate to advance level in MS Words and PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
