About the Company

Our client, a dynamic mid-sized law firm located in downtown Toronto is seeking a Personal Injury Legal Assistant to join their Litigation team. This role requires only
2 days in office
. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is looking to grow with a leading firm long-term.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compile, file, and serve pleadings, affidavits, motion records, appeal records, and other court documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure and court practice directions.
  • Organize and maintain a high volume of physical and electronic claimant files.
  • Draft and prepare correspondence to clients and third parties.
  • Prepare cheque requisitions, trust deposits, and expense reports.
  • Enter dockets in the accounting system for assigned lawyers.
  • Communicate with clients and third parties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare and assemble retainer packages and other legal correspondence.
  • Receive, distribute, and electronically file incoming mail and documentation.
  • Pull dockets and assist in the preparation of Bill of Costs documents.
  • Conduct file reviews and assist with large-scale claims administration projects.
  • Prepare and revise document templates as needed.
  • Verify payments and settlements with assigned lawyers.
  • Assist in training new team members on internal systems, including Filevine and Excel.
  • Perform other administrative and legal support duties as required.

Requirements

  • Legal Assistant diploma or certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in litigation or class actions.
  • Bilingualism in French is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Filevine and ProLaw Accounting systems considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and court filing processes, including CaseLines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills.
