Brain Injury Support Worker- Greater Victoria

Nature of position: working under the general supervision of a Case Manager, the Community Support Worker provides, assists and monitors the support needs of survivors of brain injury; assists and monitors household activities, community integration, rehabilitation, medical appointments and mediation management, behavior management, and compensatory strategies around activities of daily living, as developed by the support team.

Experience preferred: work or volunteer experience serving individuals dealing with brain injury, fetal alcohol syndrome, autism, addictions, mental health, and/or other varying barriers; understanding of trauma-informed practice.

Qualifications required: Community Support Worker Certification or certification in relevant courses in the healthcare field or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience; current first aid/ CPR certificate; consent to a Criminal Record Check; vehicle is an asset and may increase contract opportunities; basic computer skills.

5 hours paid training provided.

Support workers are sub-contractors. Contract lengths will be discussed in the interview. Many opportunities for continuous work.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week
