Main Purpose of the Job:
The Racquets Professional is responsible for creating, managing and delivering quality programming to members of various ages and skill levels. This role focuses on members' engagement, expansion and enjoyment of their sport experience including but not limited to tennis, squash and pickleball.

Club Summary:
The Riding Club is a Not-for-Profit Private Club on the shores of Lake Huron surrounded by a natural wooded area. It has a beautiful beach and boasts some of the most fabulous sunsets in the area.
The Club was founded in 1908. It was indeed a Riding Club and the members enjoyed several trail and beach rides and group picnics. The horses are long gone, but we preserve the name to keep this link with the past. Today we have a range of activities to suit all ages. An outdoor pool, four tennis courts, six pickleball courts, two squash courts, a fitness gym, and of course the beautiful beach, keep our members engaged and active throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare lesson plans for each department based on skill and age levels of participants
- Deliver lessons to groups and or individual participants, and completion of daily program tasks (ie. keeping class attendance, worksheets, giving out reports and awards, etc.)
- Assessing the lessons and making corrections for future lessons, providing good quality instruction as per the standards of the Sarnia Riding Club
- Arrive within appropriate time prior to lessons to set up and begin on time, greeting all participants with a positive and welcoming demeanor.
- Controlling the junior groups during lesson time to ensure the program is beneficial, age appropriate and instilling the love of the sport.
- Being responsible for the participants in their lessons safety and wellbeing.
- Facilitate all tournaments, clinics, team bonding days, school groups, and additional opportunities as they arise.
- Facilitate all leagues from registration to social party wrap up, with assistance from Recreation and Events Coordinator and members.
- Foster and ensure a safe, healthy environment for all participants and fellow staff by modeling the appropriate behaviour.
- Be able to work in a team environment but also be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Handle member issues and concerns in an appropriate manner to the best of your abilities. Communicate any member issues and concerns with Rec and Events Coordinator.
- Report and record details of incidents.
- Maintain courts & equipment ensuring safe and high quality playing conditions.
- Work with Recreation & Events Coordinator to schedule and implement tournaments, lessons, leagues, outside events, SRC banquet, etc.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain positive and respectful relationships with all SRC members, both on the court and around the club.
- Offer private lessons to members within your capabilities.
- Communicate effectively in a timely manner to all inquiries and requests from clients & SRC team.
- Communicate with outside vendors as needed for any programming (ex. Sponsors, Swag, trophies)
- Plan additional programming that you feel empowered to facilitate as an added service to the membership to expand offerings.
- Plan and ensure sufficient supplies according to SRC budget for each department.
- Oversee racquets assistants, prior to and during employment.
- Complete mandatory virtual training (WHIMS, AODA, Workplace Violence and Workplace Safety Awareness Training).
Qualifications:
· Vulnerable Sector check required
· First Aid/CPR- C is required
· Experience in all 3 sports (Tennis, Squash and Pickleball) is considered a strong asset
· Current Coaching certification (NCCP) active or willing to obtain is required
· Child care experience considered an asset
· Experience overseeing staff is considered an asset
Working Conditions:
· Must be comfortable working outdoors for long periods of time
· Position will require frequent standing, bends and twists from waist
· Job will require working on weekends, evenings and holidays
Physical Requirements
· Shift may require up to 6 hours of standing and moving around a court
· Shift involves the playing of sports including but not limited to: twisting, bending, kneeling, running
Compensation
Compensation will be provided through a mix of a competitive base salary alongside incentivized programming. This will be determined based on candidate experience and skill level.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.60-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 44 per week
