You'll do:

As the successful candidate, you will oversee the management and administration of Canadian defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing guidance to our employees and leadership.

Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Manages the effective and accurate execution of Pension Administration for our defined benefit and defined contribution plans
  • Communicates effectively with plan members, company leadership and our external advisors
  • Ensures effective, efficient, and compliant pension administration practices are maintained.
  • Maintains awareness of legislation, regulations, and standards related to pension administration to ensure compliance within the provinces we operate in.
  • Provides pension expertise, advice, and guidance to West Fraser employees and company leadership.
  • Oversees the administration and processing of all aspects of the registered pension plans, in accordance with the plan text and legislative requirements, ensuring pension payments are calculated and communicated accurately and on time
  • Maintains accurate records, reports and documentation related to pension plans.

You have:

  • The ability to adhere to and enforce existing company policies and procedures.
  • At least 8 years of related work experience in Pension and at least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working with Defined Benefit Pension Plans is critical
  • Understanding of pension regulations and legislation,
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly using excel
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent training acquired from a combination of relevant work experience and education. Actuarial education an asset.
  • The ability to maintain good public relations, both within and outside the organization.
  • The ability to use tact and discretion to maintain information in the strictest of confidence.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all forms of Pension Plans.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and critical thinking skills along with strong mathematical skills.
  • Proven management skills and strong customer service focus
  • Accuracy and diligence in work, proven analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including process documentation development, delivery, and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work, at times with conflicting priorities
  • Ability to travel

Compensation Package:

  • Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $100,000-$140,000, which may vary depending on location, education, and relevant experience.
