About the Role

This is a senior consulting role for someone who brings strong applied experience in Canadian health systems and is ready to lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects across the North. As a Senior Health Planner, you will shape analysis, policy, operations, and data-driven decision-making for clients including territorial governments, Indigenous organizations, and community partners. Depending on your background, your work may focus on one or both of these areas:

  • Policy & Process – policy and program reviews, process mapping, system design, stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytics & Informatics – quantitative/qualitative analysis, data modeling, data management processes, informatics and system development support.

Triage Metrix Associates LP is a northern-based consultancy specializing in health economics, policy, operations, and data analytics. We partner with governments and Indigenous organizations across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, helping design programs, solve operational challenges, and build evidence-based systems. Alongside advisory and research work, we operate customizable data and software platforms supporting clients across multiple sectors.

Position Details

  • Location: Yellowknife, NT or Iqaluit, NU preferred, hybrid. Remote candidates in Canada may be considered.
  • Hours: Full-time (30–35 hours/week) or part-time hours/week) options are available. The candidate will have some flexibility in scheduling their time but will need to be mostly available during regular business hours in the Mountain Time Zone (GMT -6/7).
  • Term: December 2025 to May 30, 2026.
  • Compensation: $45–$55/hr based on location and experience.
  • Benefits: Paid vacation, paid discretionary leave, flexible work arrangements, technology allowance.

Location of Work

Preference will be given to candidates living in Yellowknife or Iqaluit, followed by other locations in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut. Remote candidates will be considered but must reside in and be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship or restriction. Remote candidates must be able to travel to Yellowknife for up to 5 days at a time one or more times during the project period. Travel time for remote employees in this role will not be compensated.

We cannot provide relocation, housing, or sponsorship. Candidates must already reside in Canada with legal work eligibility.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Advisory

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of health-system policy, research, and analytics projects.
  • Provide expert advice to clients and internal teams, supporting evidence-based decisions.
  • Direct workstreams, coordinate contributors, and ensure deliverables meet scope, timeline, and quality expectations.

Research, Analysis & System Design

  • Lead the gathering, synthesis, and interpretation of data from diverse sources.
  • Conduct literature and policy reviews, key informant interviews, and mixed-methods analyses.
  • Map and document workflows, processes, and decision pathways.
  • Develop costing models, forecasting tools, and analytical frameworks.
  • Analyze and visualize quantitative and qualitative data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.

Deliverable Development & Communication

  • Produce high-quality reports, briefs, presentations, and client-facing materials.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Present findings to clients, leadership teams, and governance bodies.

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Mentor and oversee work of analysts and project staff.
  • Support co-design approaches with clients and community partners.
  • Ensure alignment across project teams, maintaining communication and workflow organization.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field: health profession (such as nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, laboratory science), health policy, health economics, data science, informatics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience within a Canadian health environment, or 3 years with a graduate degree, in health system operations, analytics, research, or data management. The majority of this experience must be working with a Canadian health system or health organization.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in translating complex ideas for diverse audiences.
  • Advanced ability in at least one relevant area:
  • Policy & Process: health policy analysis, program review, systems design, stakeholder engagement, process mapping, mixed-methods research.
  • Analytics & Informatics: R/RStudio, SQL/PLSQL, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle APEX, database or model development.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in hybrid/remote settings.
  • Ability to travel within Canada for short on-site work periods.

Assets

  • Experience working in Northern, Indigenous, or rural health contexts.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous knowledge systems and data governance principles (Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, TCPS2, OCAP).
  • Experience working with small and large datasets, health administrative data, and public data repositories.
  • Fluency in Inuktitut or French.
