Senior Accountant

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, AR/AP support and reconciliations. The ideal person will have excellent problem-solving skills, be eager to grow their career in accounting and have experience working with confidential financial information.

Reporting to the Controller, you will work in partnership with our AR and AP clerks in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

Accounting Duties:

  • Full cycle accounting for individual entities
  • AR/AP review, approval, training, and support
  • Inter-company transactions
  • Reconciliations for bank, GL, inter-company and corporate credit cards
  • Monthly & year-end GL reconciliations & file preparation
  • Assist with the monthly consolidation process.
  • Asset listing maintenance
  • Vendor and customer analysis
  • Other special project tasks and coverage as needed.

Reporting

  • Actual to budget variance reviews for managers
  • Assist with monthly financial statement preparation and related analysis.
  • General accounting, tax compliance, and financial records management of related companies

  • Comfortable operating in a complex and rapidly changing company and ability to work effectively in an open-office environment
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and motivated to learn in-house software

Education and experience

  • Post secondary education with a degree or diploma in accounting
  • 5-10 years of relevant accounting experience
  • CPA designation or enrolled in the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation Program
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with SAP B1 is considered an asset
  • Experience working in a multi-currency environment is considered an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word

This is a full-time, year-round position located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island commencing as soon as possible.
