About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Engineering Coordinator to support our quality team in ensuring the highest standards of product performance and reliability. In this role, you'll coordinate critical product-quality documentation, trials, and data, while supporting quality and metallurgy training, process optimization, and internal/external audits. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining and improving our product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Position products based on tensile, temperature, rolling parameters, and inspection results.
  • Conduct testing and inspection during critical product rolling.
  • Assist in determining corrective actions for products not meeting standards.
  • Support process optimization and cost-of-poor-quality initiatives.
  • Provide mill support where applicable.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain standard operating procedures for the quality department.
  • Collect, organize, and evaluate trial samples and related data.
  • Prepare and communicate customer and testing requirements.
  • Hold material for rework as required and communicate with sales teams.
  • Participate in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 audits.
  • Perform internal audits when needed.
  • Monitor and calibrate measurement equipment monthly and maintain records.
  • Conduct gauge R&R, capability studies, and reproducibility/repeatability analysis.
  • Participate in advanced product quality planning activities.
  • Support internal lab functions and lab setup as needed.

Training & Technical Support

  • Provide quality and metallurgy-related training to mill employees.
  • Support product and process improvements through engineering knowledge and quality best practices.

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in engineering required.
  • Working toward a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, QA/QC principles, fabricating processes, and quality control techniques.
  • Experience in project management, quality management, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with quality testing methods and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with Navision or other ERP systems preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Steel industry experience is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily day shift, with occasional evening work depending on production needs.
  • Industrial environment with exposure to hot/cold temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt.
