Join Squadron Energy Customer and Energy's Market team in the Sydney office as a Senior Wholesale Trader and play a pivotal role in shaping our wholesale energy portfolio trading activities.

About the Role

As a Senior Wholesale Trader, you will design, implement, and manage Squadron Energy's wholesale energy trading strategies. You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize trading performance, manage risk, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to contribute to the development of our Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) compliance framework and support the growth of our Customer Energy Market (CEM) capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute wholesale electricity trading strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Oversee daily trading operations, including market analysis, trade execution, and position management
  • Identify, assess, and manage trading risks within acceptable limits
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and market operators
  • Monitor and report on trading performance, providing insights and recommendations
  • Stay informed about market trends and regulatory changes
  • Contribute to the development and management of the AFSL compliance framework

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
  • AFMA Accredited – AFSL Responsible Manager (compulsory)
  • Extensive experience in wholesale electricity trading with a proven track record
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, derivative trading, and risk management
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities
