Job description
We are a downtown law firm seeking an associate who is suited to working in a team environment and has experience in family law or other areas, which might be discussed. Our ideal candidate has appeared in various courts and at different levels, as well as in multiple types of hearings.
Our payment model is commission-based. The posted income is estimated on projected billings for an associate lawyer.
Responsibilities:
Representation of clients at all levels of the Court across Alberta. This encompasses:
Legal research.
- Draft, review and filing of legal documents.
- Maintenance of files.
- Providing legal advice in all matters related to family law.
Representation of clients in a prompt, ethical, and professional manner.
Ongoing professional development.
- Collaboration with the partners and other associates in the carriage of files.
Requirements and Preferences:
- Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited law school or Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation.
- Must be an active member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
- A minimum of two years of experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Experience in family law is strongly preferred, and additional years of experience are a considerable asset.
- At least two independent references must be provided.
