We're seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to oversee the daily operations of the 24/7 Whitbt manufacturing facility to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and within quality standards. In the short term, this is a very execution-focused role, and you will be in the details managing staff, optimizing processes, and maintaining equipment. Over time, you'll take on more leadership, process improvement, and team management responsibilities to include quality and maintenance.

This position coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure that safety, regulatory, quality, cost, service, and efficiency goals are met. Working with other leaders, you will promote a positive workplace culture through timely communication, employee engagement, and effective decision making. The Plant Manager is responsible for establishing and monitoring key performance metrics and goals for continuous improvement along with operational policies and procedures for clear accountabilities. A successful candidate must demonstrate strong proactive and visionary leadership and proven ability to guide and develop manufacturing leaders.

Health, Safety & Environment (including Food Safety)

  • Promote and enforce workplace safety policies in compliance with occupational health regulations.
  • Supports and maintains all activities related to Food Safety Management System
  • Audit safety, food safety, quality, and environmental housekeeping procedures and act on findings.

Leadership & Management

  • Direct and mentor production supervisors, shift production leads, and staff to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance expectations and ensure regular performance reviews with direct reports
  • Direct the recruiting, selection, onboarding and training activities for production team members

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, justifying headcount and expense requests.
  • Develop sound business plans and prepare justification for capital requests.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry advancements, identifying opportunities to apply innovative manufacturing practices.
  • Work closely with Planning and Scheduling to manage production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure material availability and equipment readiness.

Process Improvement & Efficiency

  • Analyze production performance data to identify process bottlenecks, minimize waste, and drive improvements in throughput
  • Lead problem-solving efforts on issues impacting safety, food safety, quality, service, waste, and efficiency.
  • Work with the quality team to resolve complaints and testing issues and prevent recurring problems.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet quality specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Quality to resolve issues and maintain certifications

Qualifications:

When your expertise drives us:

  • Preferred Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Experience in blown film extrusion or flexible packaging preferred
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems, safety practices, lean manufacturing, and quality control
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex operations, and deliver results.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, production planning tools, and data analysis.
  • Ability to coach and mentor
