Technical Architect-Hybrid IT Application Platform

6-Months Contract

Toronto, ON, CA

Necessary Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in eCommerce development, including 6+ years of hands-on experience with HCL Commerce/WebSphere Commerce (6.x to 9.1), with expertise in architecture, design, customization, and platform upgrades.
  • 8+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development, including Servlets, JSP, JDBC, REST API development, and integration with third-party systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSP, and responsive design, with knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and UI optimization.
  • 4+ years of experience with GraphQL for middleware development, including schema design, query optimization, API integration, and security practices such as token-based authentication and API validations.
  • Proven track record in checkout flow customization, payment integrations, and B2C/B2B eCommerce site enhancements, including integrating tools like Bazaarvoice, Emarsys, and Google Tag Manager.
  • Strong leadership experience, including mentoring teams, enforcing best practices, and collaborating with business analysts, QA teams, and clients to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

Recommended Skills:

  • Experience optimizing front-end performance, including lazy loading, code splitting, caching strategies, and middleware query performance.
  • Hands-on experience with secure session management, including cookies (HTTPOnly, SameSite, Secure attributes), SSL/TLS encryption, and managing multiple account types (e.g., B2C individual, business, and admin accounts).
  • Knowledge of setting up and managing Akamai CDN, including SSL certificate management, cache policies, routing configurations, and secure request handling.
  • Proficiency in version control and CI/CD workflows using Git, Jenkins, and other deployment tools, with experience in branching strategies (e.g., Gitflow).

Certification:

  • HCL Commerce Certification (preferred).
  • Java SE/EE Certification (preferred).

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $70.00-$75.00 per hour
