Reporting to the Program Manager, the Recreation Therapist is a member of the health care team serving several units, providing consultative support to patients, families, and inter-professional team members through therapeutic intervention. The recreation therapist provides assessment, intervention plan development, evidence-informed interventions, and evaluation of recreation therapy services to enhance patient care and support patient goal achievement through the provision of recreation therapy on acute/sub-acute care units. Interventions are provided to groups or individuals in acute care settings, related to the patient's plan of care and planned disposition (ALC or Home). The recreation therapist is responsible to oversee and carry out the delivery of the recreation therapy service for appropriate patients. Where the role requires a recreation therapist designation, the provider works within the standards and competencies of a recreation therapist.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Baccalaureate degree in Recreation or Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
• A Minimum of two years' experience as Recreation Therapist preferred.
• Previous experience working with individuals with dementia/delirium/ responsive behaviors
• Experience in working with various populations/disability groups required
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• Knowledge and application of organizational Therapeutic Recreation assessments and processes.
• Comprehensive Program Planning – organizing service delivery.
• Risk management strategies and application for the population and service.
• Diagnosis-specific procedures.
• Responsive Behavior plan development experience is an asset.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
