Position Summary
The Coordinator II, ITT Cybersecurity is responsible for protecting the municipality's IT infrastructure, data, and systems against cyber threats. This role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring security measures, as well as responding to and mitigating cybersecurity incidents. The Coordinator II, ITT Cybersecurity works proactively to identify vulnerabilities, enforce compliance with security standards, and educate staff on best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain technical cybersecurity, procedures, and controls to protect municipal assets.
- Assist IT management in reviewing IT security related policies.
- Monitor networks, systems, and applications for security breaches or suspicious activity using advanced tools and techniques.
- Perform regular qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for new technology vendors and solutions,
- Conduct vulnerability analysis, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate exposure.
- Respond to and investigate cybersecurity incidents, coordinating containment, remediation, and reporting efforts.
- Oversee the implementation of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, Endpoint Detection and Response, and other security infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal security standards and regulations.
- Create and conduct security awareness training for staff to promote best practices and reduce risk.
- Collaborate with IT and external partners to stay ahead of emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
- Maintain detailed documentation of security incidents, controls, and policies to support audits and compliance.
- Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, with a focus on cyber risk mitigation.
- Provide guidance and expertise to IT Team members regarding cybersecurity practices
- Oversee the design, implementation, and support of the City's Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.

Position Requirements
Education & Certifications:
- A diploma in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CompTIA Security+.
- Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted Class G Driver's License.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or 3 years of related IT roles with an increasing portfolio of cybersecurity responsibilities.
- Experience in a municipal or public sector environment is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and best practices.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex security issues efficiently.
- Monitoring & Analysis: Experience with security monitoring tools (e.g., SIEMs) and incident response.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and training purposes.
- Project Management: Ability to lead security projects and deliver results on time.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in assessing vulnerabilities and implementing controls.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Adaptability: Keeps up to date with evolving cybersecurity threats and solutions.
Working Conditions:
- The position is office-based with occasional travel for conferences, training, or audits.
- Standard business hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to address urgent cybersecurity incidents. This role also requires availability for on-call responsibilities, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Cognitive demands include analyzing complex systems and threats, interpret ambiguous data, and develop effective security responses quickly and under pressure and evaluating data-driven insights, determine likelihoods/impacts of threats, and make recommendations based on evidence.
- Physical demands include extended periods of sitting and looking at a computer screen.
