Job DescriptionThe Director of Indigenous Relations is responsible for creating partnerships and building strong relationships with communities' people and organizational strategies. This role will be responsible for growing local and youth initiatives to break down the barriers and create a strong future for indigenous partners.
Key Functions & Duties:
- Lead the strategic initiatives and attend events and ceremonies as well as engage with new partners
- Establish relationships with Indigenous communities, First Nations, and Indigenous lead organizations
- Identify new sustainable initiatives with partners
- Identify funding opportunities that are aligned with York1's sustainable strategic initiatives
- Support application process for new funding opportunism
- Complies with all company policies and applicable laws
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5 years experience in Management and Preference will be given to candidates with lived or work experience with Indigenous communities
- Knowledge of diverse Indigenous governance structures, traditions, and protocols
- Knowledge of Indigenous Protected Conservation Areas is an asset
- Experience in construction technical writing or in construction is required
- Strong attention to detail with ability to produce accurate and quality work under tight deadlines and minimal supervision
- Expert level in MS Office
- Well organized and able to work accurately and effectively under pressure
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills
