About Bruyère Health Saint-Louis Long-Term Care
Bruyère Health Saint-Louis Long-Term Care is a 198 bed Long-Term Care (LTC) home with convalescent care, peritoneal dialysis and respite programs situated in a quiet residential neighborhood on a picturesque setting on the edge of the Ottawa river. We are a designated francophone organization and are proud to serve clients in both official languages. We value our employees and their professional development. What would my role be?
Reporting to the Director of Care or delegate, you will function as a member of the interdisciplinary team and provide all aspects of care within your scope to residents as assigned by the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and Registered Nurse (RN). You will provide care to support residents' quality of life and autonomy and play a supportive role in the functioning of the home area.
How do I qualify?
Required:
- Personal Support Worker course approved by the Ontario Ministry of Universities and Colleges (minimum 650-hour course required from an accredited school)
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate
- Fluent in French and English
Preferred:
- Valid certificate of registration from the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) or from the Ontario Personal Support Workers Association (OPSWA)
- PointofCare experience (PointClickCare module)
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) or relevant certifications related to Supporting Persons with Responsive Behaviours
- Knowledge or experience working in long-term care
- Dementia care experience
- Experience working with older adults and/or adults affected by loss of autonomy or by chronic or terminal illness
What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?
- Ability to write observations and to use an electronic documentation system
- Strong abilities for communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong teamwork skills
- Motivated for personal growth and ongoing learning
