Accounting Manager (Hybrid – Summerland, BC)
UNISUS International School is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team in Summerland, BC. This is a hybrid position with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The Accounting Manager will oversee full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting for a dynamic independent school serving day and boarding students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Working closely with school leadership and external partners, this role ensures the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting including AP/AR, reconciliations, and payroll interface.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports and statements.
- Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and provide recommendations.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and system accuracy (QuickBooks, Payworks, DEXT).
- Liaise with auditors, bookkeepers, and banking partners.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- CPA designation not required (in progress or equivalent experience welcome).
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS).
- Skilled with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar); familiarity with Payworks, DEXT, or Shopify an asset.
- Proficient in Excel and Google Workspace (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling).
- Experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Clear communicator who can explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Collaborative team player with integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Proactive mindset—identifies risks, streamlines processes, and improves efficiency.
Details:
- Hours: 30–40 per week
- Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually (based on experience and education)
- Start date: Preferably November 1, 2025 (flexible)
