We are looking for an English Teacher who is ready to bring patience, creativity, and compassion to pupils who need it most. This isn't a mainstream teaching role. It's about giving children with Autism (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) the chance to feel safe, heard, and capable of success.
About the school

  • This is a small, therapeutic school for children aged 9-16 who cannot thrive in mainstream. Here, relationships come first.
  • Small classes of no more than 8 pupils, with two fantastic Teaching Assistants in each
  • A calm, nurturing setting with Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Behaviour Support on hand
  • A creative, personalised curriculum that celebrates progress as much as outcomes

What you'll be doing day to day
Teaching English Language & Literature up to GCSE, with plenty of freedom to adapt lessons to your pupils' needs Finding creative ways to make reading and writing exciting and meaningful for learners who may have lost confidence Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour, always with a trauma-informed, patient approach Working as part of a close-knit team where teachers, TAs, and therapists all pull together for the same goal Building the kind of relationships where pupils feel safe to take risks, try again, and believe in themselves

About you
A Qualified Teacher (QTS / QTLS) or an unqualified teacher with at least 2 years' teaching experience Confident in teaching English up to GCSE and able to adapt to a range of abilities Patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive practice Skilled at building trust with young people who may find school difficult Experience with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH (personal or professional) would be a bonus, but not essential
