Job Summary
The Education Assistant Instructor is responsible for teaching and mentoring students enrolled in the Diploma in Education Assistant program. The instructor delivers course content that prepares students to support teachers and learners in educational settings such as elementary, secondary, or special education classrooms. The role includes lesson planning, instruction, student assessment, and maintaining academic quality and professional standards in alignment with institutional and accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and practical training sessions related to education assistance, child development, learning support, and inclusive education.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with the program curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, supporting their professional and personal development.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, presentations, projects, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Incorporate current trends, educational technologies, and best practices into teaching.
- Supervise students during practicum or field placements, ensuring learning objectives are met.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to maintain academic integrity and continuous program improvement.
- Participate in staff meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional development sessions.
- Uphold college/school policies and support a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of teaching or professional experience in an educational setting.
- Prior experience as an Education Assistant or teaching in an Education Assistant Diploma program is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education, classroom management, and student support strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
