TRAVEL REQUIREMENT - Successful applicants must be able to travel for 2 consecutive weeks each month.
Introduction:
NCTS provides a range of mental health services to support Northern and Indigenous communities in Canada. We are currently seeking passionate, experienced and dedicated Mental Health Counsellors to provide community-based mental health services to First Nations Communities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally sensitive mental health services to children, youth, adults, couples and/or families within the Indigenous community.
- This may include collaborating with and providing support to Nation staff as well as extended community partners.
- Provide mental health programming, training, and workshops.
- Travel to remote locations to provide in-person services for 2 weeks per month.
- Where appropriate, collaborate with Nation staff, Elders, community leaders, healthcare professionals and other community stakeholders to support holistic healing approaches.
- Advocate for mental health awareness and promote destigmatization around seeking mental health supports.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance cultural competency and counselling skills.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
- Registration or certification with a recognized counselling or mental health professional association.
- Willingness and availability to provide in-person services to remote communities for 1 to 2 weeks a month.
