Summary

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Takeoff Specialist (Estimating) to join our dynamic team in Canada. The Quantity Takeoff Specialist will play a crucial role in our mission to deliver exceptional construction services by accurately assessing project costs and ensuring profitability. This position is vital to our continued success in the heavy civil construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction drawings and specifications to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • Contact suppliers and subcontractors to obtain material and subcontract pricing.
  • Enter pricing and quantities into estimating software accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist senior estimators with project bid preparation and related tasks.
  • Maintain organized records of takeoffs, quotes, and estimating data.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency and accuracy in estimates.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and training to develop estimating and construction knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Completed high school; some field work or post-secondary coursework in construction technology or civil engineering is an asset but not required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Construction Drawing / Estimating software is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Motivated, eager to learn, and able to work in a collaborative office environment.
