Optical Transceiver Program Manager

How You Will Contribute

• Lead Ciena's transceiver program cost optimization efforts across the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with performance, quality, reliability, and supply availability standards.
• Drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders to continuously reduce transceiver costs through Design for Cost and Cost Down projects with R&D, Operations, and Procurement teams.
• Develop detailed transceiver cost models encompassing material, labor, manufacturing, equipment depreciation, overhead costs, and other factors.
• Collaborate with Procurement to achieve annual material cost targets through price negotiations, multisourcing strategies, or adoption of lower-cost technology alternatives.
• Partner with Operations to identify opportunities for manufacturing cost reductions and yield improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Build multiyear transceiver cost projections that align with corporate cost targets and incorporate ongoing cost-reduction initiatives.
• Analyze transceiver market trends and work with R&D, Operations, and PLM to ensure Ciena transceiver costs meet future customer and market expectations.

The Must Haves

• Expertise in optical transceiver technologies, including electrical and optical infeed materials and supplier ecosystems.
• Proficient understanding of optical transceiver material cost drivers and manufacturing processes.
• Engineering and/or Business Degree.
• At least 5 years of experience in optical transceiver design, manufacturing, or procurement.
• Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams comprising R&D, PLM, and Quality on key commodity initiatives.
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, both internally and externally.
• Program management experience and willingness to travel as required.

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with optical and electrical fabrication processes and associated costs.
• Experience in global commodity management.

Pay Range

The salary range for this role in Canada is $93, 900 - $149, 900

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
