Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive Day Porter to join our team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in cleaning or janitorial services and must hold a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (or be willing to obtain one).

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas throughout the day.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wash floors as needed.
  • Empty and replace trash, recycling, and waste bins regularly.
  • Refill restroom and classroom supplies (paper, soap, towels, etc.).
  • Clean glass doors, windows, mirrors, and other touch surfaces.
  • Respond promptly to spills, messes, or urgent cleaning requests during school hours.
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor or maintenance team.
  • Support set-up and clean-up for school events (moving tables, chairs, etc.).
  • Perform light maintenance duties as required (e.g., replacing light bulbs or filters).
  • Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or building maintenance roles (preferably in schools or institutional environments).
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to complete one prior to start).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic understanding of safe cleaning product use and sanitation standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Day shift (typically 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., may vary by school).
  • Full-time or part-time opportunities available.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.20-$17.50 per hour

Work Location: In person
