Job Summary

BMW Durham is currently seeking a full time Service Porter to join our team. The Service Porter is a key team member, responsible for assisting the Service Department with vehicle movement, customer service, and general maintenance of the service area.

We are looking for the right candidate who has an enthusiasm for cars, is eager to work in the automotive industry, and has a great customer service attitude.

You will help create a positive first impression for our service customers and contribute to the smooth operation of the service area.

A valid G Ontario Driver's license with a clean abstract is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with vehicle arrival for service
  • Install protective covers on vehicles being serviced
  • Inspect vehicles on arrival for any existing damage and record/communicate accordingly
  • Move, park, retrieve, and position vehicles for the service department (including test drives and customer returns)
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service area and parking lot.
  • Perform basic vehicle checks, such as ensuring appropriate gas levels and tire pressure, fluid top-ups and getting interiors tidied as required
  • Ensure keys are safely logged and stored in the designated key management system
  • Ensure compliance with dealership safety and operational procedures
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with customers

Qualifications & Skills

  • A positive attitude with strong reliability & punctuality record
  • Valid Ontario G drivers licence with a clean driving record
  • Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmissions (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Previous automotive/porter/lot attendant experience is an asset

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Full time (40 hours work week)
  • Shifts based on dealership hours (Monday - Saturday) between 8am and 8pm
  • Work is primarily outdoors and in the service area
  • May require occasional lifting and physical activity
