Exciting Internal Opportunity: Child Care Resource & Referral Worker
BGC Okanagan is seeking a Child Care Resource & Referral (CCRR) Worker to join our dedicated team in Vernon. In this role, you will provide resources and consultation to parents and family-based childcare providers, maintain the childcare registry and community resources, and offer drop-in support while creating engaging, welcoming spaces for early years participants.
The CCRR Program aligns with the Child Care BC Plan, including ACCB, other funding initiatives, the Early Learning Framework (E.L.F.), and current childcare trends. This position is temporary and will continue until March 31, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to telephone and in-person inquiries from parents and potential or existing childcare providers on issues related to childcare services. Provides resource materials and information on community resources, services and local childcare providers.
- Provides consultation to childcare providers and potential childcare providers in areas such as start-up and operation, licensing requirements, safety standards, and programming. Conducts initial and follow-up visits to childcare providers.
- Develops and produces newsletters, program brochures and pamphlets in conjunction with other staff. Develops, selects and acquires resource materials in consultation with the supervisor.
- Maintains the lending library by performing duties such as organizing resources, clean and disinfect equipment, performing inventory, and maintaining library membership, loan and return records.
- Plans, delivers, and participates in workshops, networking events, and educational sessions for parents and childcare providers, in consultation with the supervisor.
- Promotes the program and recruits childcare providers through public announcements, advertisements, and promotional materials such as posters and brochures.
- Maintains the childcare provider registry in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
Prepares and maintains records, statistics, and reports as required.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education Certificate is an asset,
Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
First Aid or willingness to obtain
- Class 5 driver's licence
Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check
Please Note:
- Only qualified internal candidates will be considered.
This position requires union membership.
Hours:
12 hours per week - Wednesday mornings, Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
Rate of Pay: $27.54 per hour
