Overview

Mooredale SC is seeking a passionate and dedicated recreation Hockey Coach to join our team on an urgent basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hockey coaching, with proven experience as a lead coach. This role involves delivering high-quality on-ice instruction, fostering player development, and creating a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment for youth athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs that enhance player skills and performance.
  • Conduct on-ice practices and drills, focusing on technique, strategy, and teamwork.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to promote improvement.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect and collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other coaching staff regarding team progress and individual goals.
  • Ensure the safety of all players during practices and games by adhering to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other coaches and report to the Club Director and Sports Coordinator.
  • Attend team meetings to discuss strategies, game plans, and player development.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Must have experience as a lead coach in hockey.
  • Previous coaching experience in youth, recreation or house league hockey programs is required.
  • NCCP cetification is an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire players.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to educate players on both fundamental and advanced hockey strategies.
  • Experience coaching youth ages 4–16 preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in coaching methods and player development.

Season Dates: December 2, 2025 – March 5, 2026

There are no hockey sessions on the following dates:

  • December 21, 2025-January 4, 2026 (Holiday Break)
  • February 16 (Family Day)

Tentative Hours

  • Monday: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Thursday: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM
