About the Role
Instrumental in establishing the foundation for the Sustainable Employment outcomes of the Clients, the WorkBC Services Specialist will be responsible for providing both virtual and in-person WorkBC Assessments and Case Management for Clients interested in Case Managed Services. This key role will have a depth of knowledge and experience in both Assessment and WorkBC products and services as it relates to all Client Inclusion Groups, and allows for the development and maintenance of an ongoing and meaningful rapport with Clients throughout their successful participation in the WorkBC Employment Services program.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Client Assessments
- Conduct Client Needs Assessments to determine individual needs and connect them with suitable services and financial supports.
- Develop mutually agreed-upon Action Plans to support long-term employment and retention success.
- Assess and document a Client's financial need and process the required documentation per WorkBC program guidelines.
- Identify barriers to employment and recommend specialized assessments when necessary.
- Guide clients to appropriate WorkBC programs and services, ensuring a seamless referral process.
Case Management
- Maintain ongoing engagement with clients, providing guidance, motivation, and resources to help them achieve their employment goals.
- Regularly update and support clients in executing their Action Plans.
- Determine eligibility and requirements for financial support and other services.
- Facilitate WorkBC Employment Services Client Agreements and ensure coordination with Operations.
- Provide one-on-one coaching, life skills training, and customized employment strategies to support individual needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in ICM and WorkBC databases.
- Collaborate with Job Search and Retention Specialists to ensure a holistic support approach for clients.
- Assist clients with applications for additional services, including Skills Enhancement and Self-Employment programs.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community resources, agencies, and employers.
Qualifications
What you'll bring:
Education
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Indigenous studies, career development, social work, human resources, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCDP, RRP) are an asset.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in employment services, counseling, or a similar role, with proven experience working with Indigenous communities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture and practices.
- Ability to develop creative and collaborative relationships with multi-barriered clients.
- Expertise in job search strategies, networking, and coaching.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written). Multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office and database management.
