If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you Nova Scotia Power is looking for a Learning & Development Specialist to join our Talent Management Team in a Permanent, Full-time role. Reporting to the Talent Management Lead, you'll be at the center of our employee development and training efforts.
The Opportunity
The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs and organizational development initiatives that enhance employee performance, leadership capability, and organizational effectiveness. This role combines expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and facilitation to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Key elements of this role include:As Learning & Development Specialist, you will:
- Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements.
- Design and deliver engaging learning programs (classroom, virtual and e-learning).
- Develop instructional materials, guides, and digital content aligned with adult learning principles.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Act as an internal consultant for departments on team effectiveness and culture-building at multiple levels of the organization.
- Partner with HR, business leaders, and subject matter experts to align learning solutions with organizational goals.
- Manage relationships with external vendors for specialized training programs.
- Track and analyze learning metrics and organizational development outcomes.

These skills will make you successful:- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Education or related field.
- 5 year experience in learning & development or organizational development roles.
- Creative, resourceful, and passionate about learning and development.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing organizational priorities while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
- Change management expertise.
- Research skills and ability to identify/communicate/present trends and recommendations.
- This role requires occasional travel to support training delivery and team development initiative.
Preferred Certifications
- Certificate or diploma in Adult Education.
- Certificate in Instructional Design considered an asset.
- Certified Training & Development Professional designation considered an asset.
