Education and Employment play a significant role in not only impacting and influencing the standard of living for Ktunaxa Citizens and Community in achieving self-sufficiently but also achieving strong, healthy Citizens and Communities. This position will need to lead through example the importance of active learning and personal accountability as part of health, wellbeing and economic security. They will need to empower people to find the courage to make difficult changes by facing personal and systematic challenges.
The Client Services Worker provides direct employment supports to Ktunaxa Citizens, Communities and Clients we serve. This position is critical in supporting an environment in which human capacity can grow, develop and strengthen. Practising from a holistic, client centered model, the Client Services Worker must have exceptional relational skills and a diverse professional skillset to meet each clients' unique needs. The Client Services Worker will support all employment programs, contracts and projects in collaboration with other sector staff, at times taking responsibility to lead specific work and ensure deliverables are met.
Responsibilities- Establish rapport with clients at various levels of employment readiness, providing a strengths-based approach to support
- Provides case management services for Aboriginal clients who have challenges in achieving and maintaining employment
- Carrying out intake assessments to assess the needs and interests of clients and determine their work plan
- Providing a holistic, wraparound approach to employment supports, including referrals to outside services and resources
- Determining eligibility for particular services, programs and supports, such as WorkBC training support, ISETS, BladeRunners, etc.
- Monitoring client progress and taking a proactive approach to problem-solving, anticipating needs
- Creating and updating resumes and cover letters, and providing guidance to clients, leading them to self-sufficiency in job searching
- Assisting in the research, development and implementation of innovative programming and services in response to identified needs in the community
- Liaising with other KNC Sectors and external agencies in meeting the needs and addressing barriers in terms of life skill development, job readiness, training and employment retention.
- Working within the communities to build local capacity in terms of employment services.
A grade 12 diploma and a certificate in Employment Counselling or Human Service is preferred; however, a combination of education and experience working in Employment Counselling or a closely related field.

Work ConditionsThis is an in-person position working primarily from the Cranbrook office.
