Job Overview

We are seeking skilled and passionate Sushi and hot kitchen Chefs to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a good background in food service, particularly in sushi preparation and/or hot kitchen preparation and presentation. As our Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation while ensuring food safety and hygiene practices are followed.

Duties

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, or hot Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service during peak hours.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, contributing innovative ideas for new sushi offerings.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling best practices.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sushi or hot kitchen Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, food safety standards, and proper kitchen practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various sushi-making techniques.
  • A passion for culinary arts with a focus on Japanese cuisine is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
