Overview:

We are looking for an experienced all around carpenter with broad trade experience to manage and complete a mix of residential and commercial jobs in the Kingston area. We are looking for someone who can work on their own or alongside a crew. An ideal candidate will be someone with passion for their trade and who delivers high quality work.

Duties:

  • General knowledge/understanding of construction practices
  • Complete carpentry duties, with or without supervision
  • Wood framing, carpentry skills, installation of doors, blocking, hardware
  • Finish carpentry and millwork installation
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Able to adapt to changing client needs and deliver successful results within the project time frame
  • Operate a variety of hand and power carpentry tools, and other construction equipment
  • Arrive on site prepared for work with the tools and PPE necessary to complete required tasks
  • Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting, including records of time, expenses, and materials
  • Order materials/equipment for job sites
  • Maintain inventory of current and new materials for delivery to job sites
  • Foster a positive and professional work environment onsite with trades and team members
  • Perform all work in accordance with JT Walsh Contracting's Occupational Health and Safety Policies and promote adherence to Health and Safety requirements to all trades at the job site
  • Exercise an eye for detail and knowledge of construction quality standards

Skills:

  • Proficient in using carpentry tools such as saws, drills, and sanders
  • Knowledge of different types of wood and their properties
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and cuts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to overcome construction challenges
  • Good physical stamina to handle the demands of the job
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members
  • Possess own set of hand tools
  • Must be confident using a smartphone to access emails and applications
  • Must be capable of meeting the following physical demands including, but not limited to lifting or carrying 50 lbs, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, crawling for extended periods of time
  • Must have valid drivers license and own vehicle

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00-$38.00 per hour

  • Carpentry: 2 years (required)
