The opportunity:
Our client is seeking a
Manufacturing Engineer
to join their team. You will play a critical role in developing tooling and moulding solutions that bring customer designs into production, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency throughout the process.
The successful candidate will focus on improving design from concept to execution, supporting production readiness, and collaborating closely with both internal teams and external partners. You will provide technical expertise, translate customer requirements into practical solutions, and serve as a key contributor to continuous improvements that strengthen overall business competitiveness and profitability.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Review customer designs (CAD) and provide recommendations on moulding approaches, feasibility, and cost-effective alternatives.
- Translate customer requirements into tooling solutions, working with pattern and mould makers to ensure designs are built to specification.
- Develop production process sheets and support the production team in tool readiness and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot complex tooling and moulding challenges, recommending modifications or rework as required.
- Oversee maintenance schedules for equipment and tooling, incorporating preventive measures to reduce downtime.
- Maintain and upgrade pouring machines and related systems, including pumps, controls, and chemical storage.
- Trial and validate new chemical formulations to meet customer and product specifications.
- Collaborate with tool shop technicians, providing guidance on tooling, equipment, and process improvements.
- Support pattern makers and mould makers with clear technical direction and problem-solving.
- Partner with customers on design reviews, approvals, and ongoing product support.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing timely updates, technical insights, and follow-up service.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiencies from concept to execution of new products.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment, experience with foam manufacturing or related industry is an asset.
- 3-5 years of design experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, LEAN/Six Sigma green belt or above certification would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) an asset.
- Strong demonstrated experience using design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp or Solidworks is preferred.
