Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Construction Laborer to join our team. We deliver high quality home renovations with a dedication to architectural design and sustainability. We would like your help in building legacy projects. Town houses, plexes and chalets with unique character are the types of spaces you will be renewing with Ormsby Properties Inc.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in various construction tasks, ensuring that projects are completed safely and efficiently. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. The Construction Laborer will work alongside a professional engineer and skilled tradespeople and contribute to the overall success of construction projects.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of job sites by cleaning and clearing debris and obstacles.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed for construction activities.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision to perform tasks such as cutting, drilling, or fastening materials.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and skilled tradespeople to complete assigned tasks accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety on the job site.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to minimize risks of accidents or injuries.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist with material selection and purchase. We welcome ideas and experience from our staff and will teach you about materials and procurement that aligns with sustainability objectives and frameworks including LEED and Passive House.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction or labor-intensive roles is preferred but not mandatory.
  • ASP Construction Site Safety card required (or willing to take course before working).
  • Driver's license valid in Quebec is mandatory.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment. Preferably bilingual (French and English).
  • A commitment to safety practices on the job site is essential.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and willing to learn new skills as needed.
  • Civil engineering or architecture technicians, students and graduates with construction experience are encouraged to apply. Equally, construction trade students and graduates with an interest gaining engineering and design skills are invited to apply.
