Opal Hospitality Inc. is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hands-on General Manager to lead operations at a select-service Townplace Suites hotel that is opening in Spring 2026 in Barrhaven, Ottawa.
The ideal candidate is a strong, people-focused leader who drives performance through team engagement, operational excellence, and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Inspire, motivate, and develop associates to deliver exceptional guest service.
- Lead all hotel departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage.
- Build a collaborative, accountable, and service-driven workplace culture.
Operational & Financial Management
- Oversee all financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and reporting.
- Implement cost-control initiatives while maintaining high service standards.
- Collaborate closely with ownership and above-property management, providing clear updates and recommendations.
Guest Experience & Quality Assurance
- Ensure consistent guest satisfaction and service excellence.
- Develop and execute action plans in response to feedback and quality audits.
- Oversee property maintenance and cleanliness standards to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Sales, Marketing & Revenue
- Support sales initiatives and local business development efforts to drive occupancy and revenue.
- Analyze market trends and competitive data to inform pricing and strategy decisions.
- Build relationships with local organizations and partners to enhance the hotel's profile and community presence.
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain open communication with ownership and regional leadership.
- Provide structured performance updates and insights on key operational indicators.
- Participate in leadership and strategy meetings to align property goals with overall company direction.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of hotel management experience (General Manager or Assistant General Manager level).
- Marriott experience is preferred.
- New hotel openings experience is an asset.
- Proven success in leading multi-departmental hotel operations with strong financial results.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Experience in Food & Beverage management is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of brand standards, budgeting, and guest satisfaction metrics.
