Job Overview

Hôpital Vétérinaire Général is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team in providing exceptional care for small of animals patients. This position involves assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring a smooth workflow within the hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in animal health and welfare, along with relevant veterinary and animal handling experience. Duties

• Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Restrain animals safely using proper techniques to facilitate examinations and procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields using aseptic techniques for surgeries and procedures
• Handle animals gently and effectively, including dogs, cats
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with sample collection for diagnostic purposes
• Care for animals before and after procedures, including feeding, and cleaning
• Monitor animal vital signs and report any abnormalities to the veterinary team
• Maintain accurate records of treatments, procedures, and patient histories

Skills

• Veterinary care experience preferred; familiarity with emergency procedures is a plus
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures
• Experience with animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff
• Proficiency in animal catheterization, laboratory work, and aseptic techniques
• Ability to handle animals gently while maintaining control during examinations or treatments
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary staff and pet owners
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Able to demonstrate an interest in learning veterinary medicine
• Prior experience is advantageous but not required
